WOOF-WAG

Well HELLO there! If you are reading this post, that's because you are so darn awesome to have visited my blog and do continue reading and checking out this blog o' mine every now and then if you would like to continue being AWESOME.

This, will be yet another personal post as it's going to be about my dogs. The ones that keeps me sane and happy at times when I'm down. I've always believed that taking in strays or adopting from a local shelter is better than buying and thus, all 4 of my dogs are from the streets where they were either abandoned or unwanted by their previous owner. In this household of 2, we have JIMMIE, WHITEY, CERA and WYRA which makes the household a total of 6. So, here's an introductory to my 3 bitches and a dog.

JIMMIE
Jimmie is the eldest and we thought she was a HE earlier. How we got Jimmie was a sort of a coincidence I guess. Dad wanted to send his car for a quick wash and as we pass by Kampung Pisang area, there was this tiny car wash center. Not those with amazeballs machines but rather, hand wash with sponges etc. Well, while we were waiting for the car to be all shiny and sparkly again, I happen to see a puppy inside a cage and the size of the cage and the puppy were the same. Imagine cramped up in a small cage and as I walked nearer, I notice there were actually a pair of pups, not just this one alone. We were looking for a dog at that time so I thought 'why not this one?' We asked the owner if they were willing give it to us and they told us to just take it as they were planning on dumping one anyways. Knowing the other one which was a pure white one would do better and would stand a higher ratio of being picked for keepsake, I picked this rather odd colored puppy. We were told that it's a boy and so we thought 'hey, let's call you Jimmy'. Months passed and we were wondering how come there's no swing-a-ding-dong testicles down there and we took her to the vet only to be confirmed that he is actually a SHE. By then, she was used to being called Jimmy. We tried adjusting her name to something close by calling her Jamie but she wouldn't response and so my genius brain decided to tweak her spelling. From Jimmy, she became JIMMIE. Still a girl, just a little rough and tough there.
Thou shall not disturb the dragon in her slumber.
We got Jimmie in 2005 which makes her 7 years old this year. We got her when she was 2 months old. She is spayed and has never littered. Jimmie doesn't like strangers at all no matter how long you try to persuade her or wait for her to come to you. She only response and allow my mum and I to touch her. Anyone other than us, she will snap at you. She is a little grumpy and very short-tempered but no one can bully the other 3 in the house, else she will be the first one to run out and rescue them. Once, a neighbour's dog came over to our area and was growling at Whitey and Jimmie rush from the living to the backyard and gave such a loud growl that the neighbour's dog ran away. That was when Whitey was a puppy. Today, her activities include lounging around in the kitchen area, sleeping underneath the couch and at night, at the hallway with her favorite blanket. She used to chase after tennis ball but not anymore.

WHITEY
Whitey happened when I was visiting a friend of mine nearby Taman Free School area and a lorry ran over a bitch and her 6 puppies. Whitey was the only survivor and he was only 3 weeks old when we took him in. We nursed him and he would sleep with Jimmie in the living room, with a special mattress for them. Whitey has always been loud and until today, his bark can be a tad bit annoying at times. He used to scream his lungs out instead of barking. He only started to bark like a dog a year after we got him.
Who's the fairest of them all?
Whitey is very hasty and runs without looking at the obstacles ahead. Which is why the other girls at home don't really like him. When they see him running towards them without any thoughts of braking, they would growl really loud to warn him off. He, being a kid who wants to play all the time although he is 6 years old already, would think that they are playing with him and starts jumping up and down. Bathing Whitey is the one task that takes a lot of energy as he jumps up and down in the bathroom but when it's all done, you will find him very sweet as he would rub off all the water on his body with any fabric he can find. Towel, floor mat, MY towel, dirty laundry.

CERA
We did not plan on taking another dog in but Cera's case was almost like Jimmie's. Her owner had a litter of 6 and wanted to dump them all at the Botanical Garden. What a horrible thing to do! I got to know about this because the owner was one of the vendors at the hawker area where I was working. I told them I would have a look at the puppies and take them to the SPCA and so after work, mum, dad and I went to have a look at the puppies. I asked mum for permission to keep one if one of them comes to me when I call out the name Cera because my mum have always wanted to have a dog named Cera. And so, I squad down and started calling 'Cera'. I repeated the name thrice and this white colored puppy with two brown markings on her back and a brown head came out from underneath the lorry. We took her in and send the rest to SPCA. They were all adopted later on by good samaritans.
Hi, my name is CERA and today...I'm IN YOUR FACE!
Cera is the baby of the family. She would sit with you all day long just to have someone to accompany her. She's very close to Jimmie and would often lick Jimmie's ears and face. That's how Cera shows that she loves you. Even to us, she would 'morning-lick' us to wake us up. On rainy days, Cera would climb up onto the bed to sleep even though we told her not to. She jump up when no one's looking and if anyone walks into the bedroom, she would quickly jump down. When line's clear, she would be up again. She once faked a limp just to get our attention. How we know that? Well, she was limping in the house but she would be running around the backyard. Now, how does a limp dog run?

WYRA
Wyra was once our neighbour's. Her owner moved away and decided to leave her behind. Due to her owner's irresponsibility, she mated and littered once. Her owner didn't want anything to do with the puppies and so I smuggled them from their cage at night and kept them overnight at my place. The very next morning, I took them to SPCA and they found homes several months later. She had nowhere to go after her owner left her behind. Her brother was an all black furball just like her but he was hit by a car just weeks after they were left behind. It took Wyra some time to trust us and to let us approach her. For the first 2 months, she would just loiter around our backyard and if we try to approach her, she would run off. On the third month, something very funny happened. She DECIDED to move into our house by secretly entering our backdoor and just laze around in the living room, LIKE A BOSS. Oh well, guess that's another dog in our house. I wanted to call her PEYTON but mum told me that her previous owner called her WYRA so what choice do I have? She's used to it and she was 3 when she walked into our home.
Yellow diamonds in the sky and we're sleeping SIDE BY SIDE.
Ahhhhh, the sun.
Wyra today is very different than Wyra a year ago. She sunbath happily under the sun in the morning and when it gets too hot, she would sleep at the hallway or sometimes facing the front door. At night, she would be sleeping side by side with Cera and Cera would be licking her face off. She grew very close to Cera and follows her wherever she goes. When we're around, she follow us around even to the bathroom but try giving her a bathe and she would runaway faster than you can call her name. Every morning, we would wake up to Wyra just beside the bed. Her daily activity? Walking around the neighborhood like a boss, following me around the house and sleeping like a Thanksgiving turkey.

I can't imagine my life without these four in it and when they day comes for them to leave me...
I'll be crying until God knows when.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
