CONVERSATIONS OVER NOTIFICATIONS

We are all living in a world of smartphones and dumb people so it is no surprise that at almost every turn, you see people whipping out a smartphone. Smartphones really do make life more convenient and helps kill boredom at times but smartphones are also slowly wiping off the human connection in our every day life.

Almost every teenager owns a smartphone, if not a tablet. You see, here's the thing that is scary and horrifying. Back in the days where we all use Nokia phones that are water resistant, washing machine resistant and doubled as a crab cracking tool, people TALK. With the interference of smartphones, people don't talk. They CHAT. Gone are the days where proper conversations are held at outings or over lunch and dinner. People take their dinner while having their smartphones by their side, with Facebook being the number one priority even if there's a somebody beside. People are more concerned about their Facebook notifications than catching up with their friends. So, what is the point of going out if all you are gonna do is stick your eyes on your smartphone, hence neglecting the person beside you.

How bout a NO-SMARTPHONE Policy during dinner?

It is fine to take pictures and I do admit that smartphones made amateur photography via mobile phones much more interesting but what if you are out with friends and all they do is busy taking pictures of themselves while we are all there to catch up, talk about our issues, lives and perhaps our busy week? Why not a group picture instead?

It's cool to let people know where you are and who you are with via Facebook's CHECK-IN but common sense, check-in at a bank? Like what? 'Hello world, come rob me?'

Having smartphones is not a bad thing but we shouldn't let our human connection slip in the midst of the fast-growing technology. I doubt humanity can withstand a day without Facebook or smartphones but then again, think about our parents. They are just fine. So, what has that gotta to say about us?
