If you have read my previous post on Thailand, you would know how much I love Thailand by now. I wouldn't have made a trip to Thailand if it's not for one person. One single person who made me travel all the way to Bangkok on my own. That person is...Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta a.k.a LADY GAGA.
The sole purpose and reason for my Bangkok trip was for THE LADY GAGA BORN THIS WAY BALL. Having missed the tickets for her show in Singapore, I was devastated until Gaga decided to open up a slot in Thailand. That was when I said, no matter...I HAVE TO GO. The concert was held at Rajamangala Stadium at Huamark. You can only imagine the amount of effort the Thais put into dressing up. Like what my friend Mei said, 'if you can't beat them, don't bother joining'. Which was why we did not play dress up. Of course I, being the typical case of me and accessories decided to dress up just A LITTLE BIT. It was similar to what I did few years back with Adam Lambert's concert minus the eye-liner.
I have this theory that Lady Gaga MIGHT die next year because she's turning 27 and she has a massive pool of obsessed fans called Little Monsters who goes around bad-mouthing other artistes, saying and doing things that is against what Lady Gaga stands for that one day, they must just shoot her dead. Also, since she's turning 27 next year...there's a possibility that she may join the 27 CLUB, you know? Where there's this curse of great artistes who don't make it pass the age of 27?
PART I: WE WERE BORN THIS WAY!
You know that everybody is bound to play dress up especially if Lady Gaga is around. Everyone who went to the BTW BALL was trying really hard to imitate Lady Gaga. Some were close and amazeballs to look at while some just looked like they went through a rack of "EVERYTHING WEIRD AND OFF" and decided to put them together. You could see some of the 'Little Monsters' really put effort into making their costumes or try to look like Gaga while some just...appear in costumes that Gaga herself has never wore.

With that, GOVERNMENT HOOKER started with Gaga reappearing in a caged-inspired outfit. Everything was very hooker-like with Gaga spreading her legs like nobody is watching and it was the costume that steal the show for this number. Later, Gaga enters the castle again. The 3-tier castle opens, showcasing the inside of the castle where Gaga is in a big blown up half body of a pregnant woman. She gives birth to dancers and soon after BORN THIS WAY begins. She then appears from the vagina of the blown up legs. Now, THAT'S an entrance. We all know the steps to Born This Way so I need not say more. Next was AMEN FASHION. The song is a tad bit controversial (hell, almost all of her songs are anyways) what with Jesus in the mention and at the part where she sings 'black Jesus, Amen fashion', she had one of her African-American dancer lift his arms like when Jesus was crucified.

The next number, BLOODY MARY sees Gaga in an all white uniform build like a jellyfish-alien like creature. The costume isn't just a piece of fabric, it actually has a mechanism that drags her across the stage without her moving. For BAD ROMANCE which EVERYBODY knows the words to it, Gaga appeared also in a white costume with a headgear resembling a ram. Baphomet perhaps? Nevermind, like I care.

After these few numbers, she decided to be more interactive with the audience. She said, "I am not an alien... I am not a woman... I am not a man... I am not Human.... I am not a creature of Thailand. I am Lady Gaga. I have infiltrated your city and I will overthrow your Thailand, one monster at a time. Do not forget although I may not be many things, I am you. I am your dreams, I am your hopes, your potential, everything you love about yourself.... and you hate. And, I will forever love you more than anything. When my heart beats it's because your heart beats too. When I overthrow your beautiful country, some of you may stand by me while others will betray me." The word BETRAY rings a bell or two, right? What else can it be other than JUDAS. I danced to Judas while singing along to it despite the embarrassment.
For FASHION OF HIS LOVE, Gaga was clad in an Origami Crane piece singing beside a vanity which was just perfect. JUST DANCE followed next and after that, she told her fans that if they ever need her, she is just a TELEPHONE away. What's that I hear? What's that? Eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh stop telephoning, me-me-me-me-me-me, I'm busy!
One of the best costume from Gaga's BTW BALL would be when she came out as part of a motorcycle for HEAVY METAL LOVER and had one of her dancer as the rider. She then interacts with the crowd and say that she and her performers "Don't give a fuck" with whether people are enjoying themselves (next day, Bangkok was filled with t-shirts stating I DON'T GIVE A FUCK with Lady Gaga's face on it). Then, she performed BAD KIDS. Before her next song, she shares her life experience about being bullied in school where she was thrown into a garbage can and ridiculed by her friends. She never wanted to let anyone know about it as she didn't want anyone to think she was a LOSER. With the built up in emotions, she performs HAIR, and we can all relate to that song. That, I know. She sat on her bike with the traditional Thai headgear on (which she borrowed from a tranny and that tranny became an overnight sensation, or rather...the headgear). She talks about loneliness, bullying and about spreading love. She mentions that at the end of the day, we are not alone because she is with us. With that, YOU AND I was the next number.
After that, she moves into ELECTRIC CHAPEL where her dancers joined her on stage. At the end of Electric Chapel, the lead guitarist comes onto the stage and intros for AMERICANO. Lady Gaga appears on a meat stand like those at the butcheries with her female dancers in her meat outfits. The story behind the meat outfit originates that in the past, women were treated like meat. There was a meat grinder on stage too. Now, that is one scary woman. POKER FACE was such a big hit that until today, when Gaga performed the number, fans were screaming, jumping and singing their hearts out to the chorus. Gaga appears center stage on a sofa. She wears military green pants n black heeled boots n gun shaped bra. Just before ALEJANDRO starts, she said 'this is what I do to all my exes' then she throws one of her dancers into the meat grinder. She changes her outfit yet again to a mafia lookin outfit of black with a machine gun in hand. Following suite, she says, "Everyone who speaks different languages can understand music. I don't speak German but I can if you like... SCHEiBE (that song where Lady Gaga sings a bunch of German and yet it's not German). Lady Gaga finally kills the face orb. Though she claims the show is over, we all know it's not if you know a concert well.

After a long pause and some 'fans' leaving the stadium, Gaga appears at the top of the castle, singing and performing to EDGE OF GLORY in a vintage Versace piece. MARRY THE NIGHT closed the show. Just appropriate as the final number of the night. We all danced to the number (or at least I did).
